Sonic Solutions Symposium
Confronted with the volatile realities of a post-pandemic world shaped by climate change and ongoing conflict, this artistically led symposium at the Bauhaus Museum Dessau brought together curators, writers, thinkers, and practitioners to collectively reflect on the evolving role of artists and cultural institutions. Rather than offering definitive answers, the symposium functioned as an open platform for dialogue, exchange, and the generation of new perspectives.
Project Info
The symposium was conceived as a space for interdisciplinary encounter and critical reflection. Through discussions, presentations, and shared inquiry, it fostered collaboration across artistic and institutional boundaries, encouraging participants to question existing frameworks and imagine alternative cultural practices responsive to current global conditions.
Challenge
How can artists and art institutions meaningfully respond to complex, overlapping crises without defaulting to simplified narratives or prescriptive solutions?
Proposition
By prioritising dialogue over conclusions and process over outcomes, the symposium proposed openness, collective thinking, and experimentation as essential tools for navigating uncertainty and reimagining the responsibilities of contemporary cultural practice.
